The Truth in Truth and Reconciliation by James Corbiere (Waabi Makoohns)

Join this Truth Talk with James Corbiere as he shares his deeply personal and transformative journey in The Truth in Truth and Reconciliation: A Journey of Healing, Justice, and Creation by James Corbiere. Enduring the lasting impacts of being a childhood church trauma survivor, James’ pursuit of justice led him to channel his pain into action—creating The Truth in Truth and Reconciliation board game ("The Game"). Up against the immense challenges of being an Indigenous solopreneur in a world dominated by colonial corporations and institutions resistant to facing the Truth, including churches, James relentlessly knocked on doors, determined to bring his vision to life. His perseverance paid off when a visionary publisher, Medicine Wheel Publishing, saw the potential in The Game and helped James bring it to the world.

James will delve into the backstory of how The Game was conceived and how his passion for justice continues to drive its evolution. He will share how this educational tool promotes awareness and understanding, bringing the Truth of Canada's history and present to life through interactive, shared learning. His ultimate goal is to see The Game integrated into every school curriculum (ages 14+) across Canada, helping to ensure that future generations can walk the true path toward Truth and Reconciliation. James will also share some of the plans for a sequel, focusing on Reconciliation.

James also invites you to be part of this movement. You can help by spreading the word, requesting The Game for schools in your community (recommended for ages 14+), or purchasing a copy for yourself. Start a Game Club and host regular board game sessions at your local library (for 2-9 players) to cultivate deeper understanding and conversations about the Truth, moving forward together with Reconciliation, for the betterment of All.
