Chief Dr. Robert Joseph, O.B.C., O.C.

Chief Robert Joseph, O.B.C, O.C.,  is a peace-builder who has devoted his life to promoting reconciliation among Canada’s Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. A hereditary chief of the Gwawaenuk First Nation, he is a Survivor of the "Indian Residential School System" and helped found Reconciliation Canada, for which he is now an Ambassador. He sits on the National Assembly of First Nations Elders Council and chairs the Native American Leadership Alliance for Peace and Reconciliation.

He is also Peace and Reconciliation Ambassador with the Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace (IFWP), where he engages with international leaders to learn from and share his understanding of faith, hope, healing, and reconciliation. He holds many awards and honours, including Simon Fraser University’s Jack P. Blaney Award for Dialogue as well as The Order of British Columbia and Order of Canada.

Chief Dr. Robert Joseph, O.B.C., O.C., will guide attendees through the profound journey of connecting with the "elusive self"—the part of us that seeks connection, knowledge, and love—not only for personal healing but also for cultivating greater unity within our communities and the world.

As an Indian ResidentialSchool Survivor and the Founding Ambassador of Reconciliation Canada, ChiefJoseph has devoted his life to peacebuilding and bridging divides betweenIndigenous and non-Indigenous people. His courageous leadership has inspiredhope and action for healing and reconciliation across Canada and beyond. Inthis open conversation, Chief Joseph will explore how truth-telling, self-healing, and collective consciousness are pivotal to reconciliation, emphasizing that love and truth are at the heart of this journey.
